Autumn EagleSpeaker (she/her) is Niitasitapi - Blackfoot (Kainai First Nation) and African American. Her clans are ‘All short Peoples’ & ‘Running Antelope’. Autumn was born and raised in Seattle, Washington and has resided in Mohkinstsis (Calgary) for the past 28 years.
Autumn is passionate about advocating for Indigenous issues, upholding Indigenous sovereignty, and the protection of our lands. Autumn has organized and led movements, marches, rallies and vigils for the Indigenous Community in Calgary for the last 15 years. Autumn has volunteered within the Calgary Indigenous Community for the past 28 years to various groups, governmental organizations and political organizations.
Autumn’s educational background at the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University focused on International Indigenous Studies and Political Science. Autumn has previously worked in Oil and Gas Indigenous Consultation and Non-profit Organization and Food Bank Management, and as a cultural event planner.
Autumn recently battled and won, overcoming Breast Cancer surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. She is four years clear from Breast Cancer. Autumn’s greatest accomplishment in life is being the mother of seven amazing children; Willow, Rain, Sky, Cloud, Thunder, Rosie and Rogue. Autumn also enjoys a great cup of morning java, books and twirling her pasties as a burlesque dancer, and occasional MC.
